The Apartment


Harbour Street Apartment, brand new for 2019, is located in 'The House of David' a prominent building, built in the early 1900's as a dwelling house belonging to a watchmaker who ran a jewellery shop on Commercial Street.

The prominent corner location of our first floor apartment provides a great elevated vantage point from which to enjoy Lerwick's annual Up Helly Aa procession, as well as benefiting from a sunny southerly and westerly aspect.

A 5-minute walk will take you onto Commercial Street, Lerwick's main shopping area and includes a host of cafes, restaurants, bars, banks, tourist office and gifts shops.  In the other direction, a 5 minute walk will take you to Mareel, our cinema and music venue and the Shetland Museum & Archives.  There are plenty of local grocers nearby and the supermarkets (Tesco & Co-op) are just a 5 minute drive away.

For families, the apartment overlooks the King George V play park with the Jubilee Flower Park also nearby.

The 2 bedroom apartment can comfortably sleep 5 people in two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.  Being new, the apartment is modern and tastefully furnished.

We cater for business travellers, holiday makers and families and very much look forward to welcoming our guests in 2019.

Access:
The first floor apartment has a shared entrance lobby to Harbour Street with secure entry phone access. It retains it's original spiral staircase which is lit at all times with automatic lighting.  Unfortunately, due to the staircase this apartment might not be suitable to anyone with mobility issues.

The apartment is carpeted throughout with vinyl flooring in the kitchen and two bathrooms.

Heating:
Electric central heating throughout the property.

There is a privateparking space next to the main apartment entrance with room for one car.  Free on-street parking is also plentiful.

All heating, electricity and WiFi are included in the price.  All bed linen, towels and dish towels are provided.  We provide toilet rolls, kitchen roll and Shetland Soap Company hand wash, dish washing liquid, dishwasher tablets, salt and pepper, tea/coffee and sugar.

A small greeting hamper will be supplied containing Shetland produce which can vary according to availability.

Getting to Harbour Street Apartment

From Northlink Ferry Terminal: 
The ferry terminal is located in north Lerwick at Holmsgarth.  If you are hiring a car, the company can meet you there with the vehicle.  If you are driving to the apartment, turn left out of the ferry terminal onto the main road.  You'll approach a roundabout just next to the Co-op, go straight through and again straight through the next roundabout beside Grantfield Garage.  Turn right onto King Harald Street (there's an island at the junction).  Take the first left onto Harbour Street, The House of David will be on the left where St Olaf Street crosses Harbour Street. 

Alternatively, there is a public town service bus which stops at Holmsgarth and continues into the Viking Bus Station in central Lerwick. From there it's a 5-10 minute walk to the apartment.

If you prefer to walk, it would take about 20-30mins to walk from Holmsgarth to the apratment (following the same directions as driving above).

From Sumburgh Airport:
Sumburgh Airport is located in the south of Shetland, 25 miles from Lerwick.  If you are driving it will take around 40mins to get to the apartment.  Follow the main road right into Lerwick, going through the villages of Dunrossness, Sandwick, Cunningsburgh, Quarff,  and Gulberwick.  When you arrive in Lerwick keep following the road to the roundabout at Tesco.  Go straight through the roundabout and continue on the main road until you reach King Harald Street and turn left here.  About half way along this road turn right onto Harbour Street.  The House of David will be on the left where St Olaf Street crosses Harbour Street.
